Well, monkey see, monkey do, I suppose. One per director.

This isn't a 100 Blows Favorites for two reasons. For one thing, there are only 70 films because I haven't seen enough films for 100 directors (yeah, go ahead and laugh, I myself am), and for another, it's not really a list of all time favorites (although I like them all) but more like a time capsule cataloguing my viewing experience. Basically, it's 70 directors and one of their works that I feel is worth seeing. I'll look back on this a year from now just as I currently look back on my old lists from a year ago (I think I had seen about 20 directors around that time  ).

What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? (Robert Aldrich)
The Purple Rose of Cairo (Woody Allen)
Gosford Park (Robert Altman)
Punch-Drunk Love (P. T. Anderson)
The Life Aquatic (Wes Anderson)
Through a Glass Darkly (Ingmar Bergman)
Burden of Dreams (Les Blank)
It Happened One Night (Frank Capra)

King Kong (Merian C. Cooper)
The Conversation (Francis Ford Coppola)
Naked Lunch (David Cronenberg)
Children of Men (Alfonso Cuaron)
My Fair Lady (George Cukor)
Casablanca (Michael Curtiz)

The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (John Huston)
King Kong (Peter Jackson)
Hoop Dreams (Steve James, Frederick Marx, and Peter Gilbert)
The Killing Fields (Roland Joffe)
Three Colors: Blue, White, OR Red (Krzysztof Kieslowski) - I suppose this one is cheating but I still can't decide which one I like the best. Just pick one of them at random I guess.
Paths of Glory (Stanley Kubrick)
Rashomon (Akira Kurosawa)
Metropolis (Fritz Lang)
The Bridge of the River Kwai (David Lean)
Do the Right Thing (Spike Lee)
Once Upon a Time in America (Sergio Leone)
