Netflix is a really great resource, especially when you don't have the money/desire to actually buy/collect the DVDs you want to see. Their Instant Streaming selection is getting better and better now too, including a number of Criterion releases. Pus, you can have "Netflix Friends," so that you can see what your friends are watching, what's in their queue, and what they rated films they've seen. It's a great way to get recommendations. If you have Netflix, click below to be my Netflix friend, and post your own links to become friends and get recommendations from others.

Netflix Instant Watch turns out to be a great place to find movies that haven't made it to DVD. A lot of MGM-controlled titles are on there. I don't know if this will prove useful to anyone reading but here are some of the more interesting things I've found, in alphabetical order:

Blithe Spirit (Lean), Born to Win (Passer), Busting (Hyams), The Captive City (Wise), Garbo Talks (Lumet), The Happy Ending (Brooks), The Heartbreak Kid (May), He Who Must Die (Dassin), Horizons West (Boetticher), Illustrious Corpses (Rosi), The Landlord (Ashby), Looking for Mr. Goodbar (Brooks), Phaedra (Dassin)

I mentioned this briefly in the picture thread, but Manoel de Oliveira's Porto of My Childhood is up there right now and it doesn't have a release in the US as far as I can tell.

Kiss my ass

Oh happy days! Every episode of Star Trek (except DS9) is on instant watch! I'll be busy for awhile with these.
